Eight killed in Vietnam floods
Hanoi, Sep 5: Floods and landslides have killed at least eight people in Vietnam, officials said on Thursday.

The Central Committee for Flood and Storm Control said one person died in Ha Giang province, three in Lai Chau and four in Lao Cai, Xinhua reported.

At least 14 people were injured and 10 others are still missing.

Heavy rains in the region also caused severe damage to houses and crops. Approximately, 120 hectares of crops and aquacultures were affected.

The committee further warned that heavy rains may continue over the next few days in northern Vietnam and instructed relevant agencies to be prepared for unfavourable consequences. It was also directed to handle the situation to help local people stabilizing their life.
