Eid-ul-Adha 2024: Dubai Reveals 7 Iconic Cannon-Firing Locations For Celebrations
Cannons will be fired at seven locations in Dubai to mark the start of the Festival of Sacrifice, as announced by the police on Saturday.
Lt-Col Abdullah Tarish Al Amimi, the commander of the cannon team, stated that all arrangements have been made to announce Eid-ul-Adha through the firing of cannons at the designated sites, as reported by Khaleej Times.

Dubai: Here Are The 7 Cannon-Firing Locations
According to the local media report, the cannons will be fired around 5:45 a.m. after the Eid prayers at the following locations:
- Za'abeel Grand Mosque in Za'abeel
- Eid prayer grounds in Umm Suqeim
- Nad Al Hamar
- Al Barsha
- Nad Al Sheba
- Al Baraha
- Hatta
The tradition of cannon firing holds significant importance in the UAE's heritage. During the holy month of Ramadan, the cannon is fired to signal Iftar, as reported by Khaleej Times. For both Eid-ul-Adha and Eid-Al-Fitr, the cannon is fired to announce the start of the festivals. Lt-Col Al Tamimi noted that this practice is deeply rooted in the community's collective memory.
Dubai Police congratulates UAE leadership, people on Eid-ul-Adha
The Dubai Police have extended their warmest congratulations to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and their Highnesses, the Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates, as well as to the citizens and residents of the UAE, on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, as reported by Aletihad
Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, confirmed the police force's readiness to secure the Eid-ul-Adha holiday. There will be intensified patrols on internal and external roads, in markets, commercial areas, and other crowded places to ensure safety.
He urged all citizens, residents, and visitors to adhere to the rules and instructions issued by the Dubai Police and its partners through various media channels, especially those related to road safety and beachgoer regulations during the Eid holiday, as reported by Aletihad.
Al Marri also called on road users and drivers to exercise caution while driving, and to avoid traffic violations such as speeding, reckless driving, and overtaking on the shoulder, to ensure a safe and accident-free Eid. He wished everyone a joyful and secure holiday celebration.
