Egypt: 55 policemen killed in gunbattle with militants
At least 55 policemen were killed in the exchange of fire with the militants during a raid on a hideout near Cairo, Egypt.

The gunbattle took place at the al-Wahat al-Bahriya area in Giza governorate. A number of suspected militants were also killed and security forces are searching the area, said reports.
The Egyptian authorities have not released an official death toll yet.
The security forces are said to have launched an attack following a lead that eight suspected members of militant group Hasm were in the area.
While the forces were moving towards the area, they were ambushed by militants who fired rocket-propelled grenades and detonated explosive devices.
Militant group Hasm is said to have links with the Islamic State.
