Earthquake Of Magnitude 5.9 Strikes Afghanistan-Tajikistan Border, Tremors Felt In India And Pakistan
The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reports that a powerful 5.9-magnitude earthquake occurred Saturday morning in the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region. The epicenter of the earthquake was roughly 86 kilometers deep and situated at 36.13°N latitude and 71.38°E longitude.
A wide region was affected by the tremors, including the Delhi-NCR area and northern Indian regions like Jammu & Kashmir. There were brief panic episodes in several places as residents claimed to feel the ground tremble. In India, there haven't been any recent reports of casualties or damage, though.

The earthquake in Pakistan was felt in more than 20 cities, including Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Lahore, and Peshawar. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, which verified the magnitude, several inhabitants were alarmed by the vibrations and fled their buildings. There have been no reports of serious injuries or damage despite the extensive shaking.
This seismic event emphasizes the area's susceptibility to tectonic activity, as it comes after a string of earthquakes in the area during the preceding week. Authorities in the impacted nations have asked citizens to exercise caution and are keeping a close eye on the situation.
The incident serves as a reminder of how crucial it is to be ready in areas that are prone to earthquakes. It is recommended that residents become acquainted with safety procedures and make sure their residences and places of employment are prepared to manage such situations.
