Earthquake of magnitude 7.7 hits near Peru-Ecuador border
Peru, Feb 22: A massive earthquake of magnitude 7.7 has rocked Ecuador at the border with Peru on Friday. The magnitude has been felt across both countries.
According to United States Geological Survey, the earthquake happened around 224km (140 miles) east-southeast of Ambato, Ecuador, but ripples have been felt across South America.
The earthquake's epicentre was located at a depth of 148 kilometres at around 10.17 (GMT) . The shocks were registered 132 kilometres southeast of Palora, Ecuador.

Witnesses have reported of feeling the tremors in various cities in the border area with neighbouring Ecuador.
