Dubai Rains And Floods: Airport's Message To Travellers Amid Disruptions In Flight Operations
All inbound flights scheduled to arrive at Dubai International (DXB) were diverted due to the inclement weather situation, on Tuesday.
DXB, which is the world's busiest airport for international passengers, experienced this disruption. Despite road blockages and flooding causing a high volume of guests to be unable to reach DXB for their departing flights, efforts are being made continuously to restore normal operations.

Additionally, refreshments have been arranged for guests currently at the airport, where possible.
In several posts on its X page, it was communicated by DXB that operations at @DXB had been temporarily suspended for 25 minutes due to the intense storm. Subsequently, operations have recommenced. It was reported that major flooding is occurring on roads leading to the airport, and forecasts indicate that the unsettled weather will persist until tomorrow morning.

Passengers were advised to check their flight status with their airline and to allow significant extra travel time to the airport due to the weather-related disruptions.
By the end of Tuesday, Dubai had been soaked by more than 142 millimeters (5.59 inches) of rainfall over 24 hours, significantly surpassing the average annual rainfall of 94.7 millimetres (3.73 inches) at Dubai International Airport.
As a result of adverse weather conditions, multiple flights to and from @DXB are experiencing delays or disruptions. At 7:26 pm (local time), a halt to arrivals was confirmed by the airport, with an announcement that operations would resume gradually more than two hours later. In its latest post on X, it was acknowledged that many passengers were unable to reach the airport due to flooded roads. Passengers were urged to allow significant extra travel time to the airport.
Arriving flights are being temporarily diverted this evening until the weather conditions improve. Departures will continue to operate. Efforts are being made with partners to restore normal operations and minimize inconvenience to passengers.
The inability of many passengers to reach the airport for departing flights was acknowledged by airport authorities, who have provided food and drinks to as many passengers as possible.

Flydubai and Emirates have announced cancellations of their flights. According to Khaleej Times, all flydubai flights scheduled for departure from Dubai on April 16 have been cancelled until 10 am on April 17.

Emirates stated in a post that they are working diligently to safely transport all affected passengers to their final destinations and will provide updates as soon as possible.
