Drone Targets Benjamin Netanyahu's Residence In Caesarea; Israel PM Is Safe

A drone from Lebanon targeted Prime Minister Netanyahu's residence in Caesarea but caused no injuries. The IDF intercepted two additional drones, and an investigation is ongoing.

A drone from Lebanon targeted a building in Caesarea, aiming at Prime Minister Netanyahu's residence. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The Israeli military confirmed that the drone entered Israel from Lebanon on Saturday and hit a structure in Caesarea. Local media suggested the intended target was Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's home.

The Israeli Defence Force (IDF) mentioned that two additional drones were intercepted, and warning sirens were activated in Glilot, north of Tel Aviv. However, the military later dismissed any drone attack in that area. The IDF is currently investigating the incident to gather more details.

Netanyahu's Safety Confirmed

A spokesperson for Prime Minister Netanyahu confirmed that the drone was directed towards his Caesarea residence. Reuters reported that Netanyahu was not present at the time, and there were no injuries. This incident follows Israel's recent claim of a significant victory after eliminating Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar.

Sinwar was killed during a gunfight with Israeli forces on Wednesday after a year-long pursuit. His death was officially announced on Thursday. Sinwar had orchestrated Hamas' attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which led to the Gaza conflict.

Iran's Response to Sinwar's Death

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei commented on Saturday that Sinwar's death will not deter the "Axis of Resistance." He stated, "His loss is undoubtedly painful for the Axis of Resistance, but this front did not stop advancing with the martyrdom of prominent figures." Khamenei emphasized that "Hamas is alive and will remain alive."

The "Axis of Resistance" is an alliance formed over years with Iranian backing. It includes groups like Hamas, Lebanon's Hezbollah, Yemen's Houthi movement, and various Shi'ite factions in Iraq and Syria. These groups collectively oppose Israel and U.S. influence in the Middle East.

This recent drone attack adds tension to an already volatile region following Sinwar’s death. The situation remains under close observation as further developments unfold.
