Donald Trump Vs. Joe Biden: Clashing Views On How Israel Should Handle Iran's Nuclear Threat

Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump has called for Israel to strike Iran's nuclear facilities in response to the recent missile barrage launched by the Islamic Republic, according to a report by NDTV. Speaking at a campaign event in Fayetteville, North Carolina, on Friday, Trump questioned the current US administration's stance on the issue.

At the town hall event, held near a major US military base, Trump referred to a question posed earlier in the week to Democratic President Joe Biden about whether he would support Israel in targeting Iran's nuclear program. Biden had been asked if he would back military action against Iranian nuclear sites, to which he responded: "The answer is no."

Trump disagreed strongly with this position, saying Biden's answer was a mistake. "Isn't that what you're supposed to hit?" Trump asked rhetorically. "It's the biggest risk we have nuclear weapons."

The former president explained that in his view, nuclear facilities should be the primary target if military action is taken. "When they asked him that question, the answer should have been, hit the nuclear first, and worry about the rest later," Trump remarked. He added that Israel may still take action, stating, "If they're going to do it, they're going to do it. But we'll find out whatever their plans are."

The discussion about potential strikes comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, following Iran's firing of nearly 200 missiles towards Israel. In response, Biden has maintained that while Israel has the right to defend itself, any military action must be proportionate. "We'll be discussing with the Israelis what they're going to do," Biden said earlier, adding that all G7 nations agree on Israel's right to respond appropriately.

Trump, who is locked in a fierce election battle with Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee, has spoken relatively little about the Middle Eastern crisis. However, he issued a sharp statement earlier this week, blaming Biden and Harris for the current escalation.

With international attention focused on the region, the debate over how to address Iran's nuclear ambitions continues to be a critical issue in US foreign policy.
