US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a phone conversation on Sunday with Iran emerging as the key focus of their talks, according to an Israeli official. The discussion came at a time of rising uncertainty over stalled US-Iran negotiations and fresh reports that Washington is considering renewed military action against Tehran.

Netanyahu had earlier confirmed that he was scheduled to speak with Trump and expected to receive updates on the US President's recent trip to China. The Israeli leader had also hinted that Iran's nuclear programme and the broader regional situation would dominate the conversation.

According to Axios, the Israeli official said Trump and Netanyahu discussed developments linked to Iran during the call.
