Donald Trump reportedly nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

Washington, Feb 4: The Republican frontrunner for US presidential poll Donald Trump has reportedly been nominated as potential recipient of Nobel Peace Prize 2016.

It is not clear who nominated Donald Trump for the Peace Prize, reported CNN citing Peace Research Institute (PRIO) Director Kristian Berg Harpviken as saying.

PRIO Oslo conducts research on the conditions for peaceful relations between states, groups and people.

He has been nominated for his vigorous peace through strength ideology, used as a threat weapon of deterrence against radical Islam, ISIS, nuclear Iran and Communist China.

Trump who announced his presidential candidacy in June, drew flaks after he insulted a war hero, Latinos, a disabled reporter, and a popular Fox News anchor. He also suggested to put a blanket ban on entry of Muslims in US after
Joseph Stalin, Benito Mussolini, Vladimir Putin and Adolf Hitler nominated for the Nobel Prize in past seen as surprising nominations for the coveted award.

It is pertinent to note that a nomination and awarding Peace Prize are different. The Nobel committees invite thousands of people every year to nominate peace prize recipients.
