Donald Trump Nominated for Nobel Peace Prize After Israel-Iran Ceasefire Deal
US President Donald Trump has been put forward for the Nobel Peace Prize due to his involvement in negotiating a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. This development marks the end of what he termed the "12 Day War." The nomination was submitted by Representative Buddy Carter (R-Ga.) on June 24, who commended Trump's "extraordinary and historic role" in resolving the crisis.

Carter highlighted Trump's decisive actions against Iran's nuclear ambitions in his nomination letter. He noted that Trump played a crucial role not only in stopping the conflict but also in addressing the threat posed by Iran's nuclear program. "President Trump also took bold, decisive actions to halt Iran's nuclear ambitions and ensure that the world's largest state sponsor of terrorism remains incapable of acquiring a nuclear weapon," Carter stated.
Trump's Leadership Praised
The Congressman praised Trump's leadership during the escalating tensions, stating it embodied the principles of the Nobel Peace Prize. "His leadership through the crisis exemplifies the very ideals that the Nobel Peace Prize seeks to recognize: the pursuit of peace, the prevention of war, and the advancement of international harmony," he wrote. Carter lauded Trump for demonstrating both courage and clarity in what he described as a significant breakthrough in a historically volatile region.
The conflict between Israel and Iran began when Israel launched a preemptive strike against Iran, citing imminent threats from Tehran's nuclear program. This action led to several days of missile exchanges between both countries. Over that weekend, US forces joined by conducting airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear sites, raising concerns about a wider conflict.
Ceasefire Announcement
On June 23, Iran responded by firing rockets at a US military base in Qatar. However, officials confirmed that Tehran had given prior notice to both US and Qatari authorities, resulting in no injuries. Late on Monday, Trump declared a 12-hour ceasefire set to begin overnight on June 24, announcing that hostilities were coming to an end.
Carter concluded his nomination with a formal recommendation for Trump to be considered for this prestigious award. "For these reasons, I respectfully submit this nomination for Donald J. Trump, 47th President of the United States, to be considered for the Nobel Peace Prize," he wrote.
