The latest report, which surfaced a day after the Republican president completed two years in office, said he has precisely made 8,158 false or misleading claims during his tenure.

As per the Washington Post, Trump averaged nearly 5.9 false claims a day in his first year and then the number shot up to 16.5 a day in the second year, which is almost the triple.

The Post quoted The Fact Checker's database which tracks every susceptible statement that Trump makes. The database itself came up with the number 8,158, PTI reported. Out of these, 6,000-plus false claims were made during the president's second year.

The report also said that the biggest source of misleading claims is immigration with a tally that has grown with the addition of 300 new claims on immigration in the last three weeks to reach a total of 1,433.
