White House Response And Political Reactions

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt responded to media queries by stating that the video was part of a broader internet meme portraying Donald Trump as a lion and Democrats as characters from "The Lion King." She dismissed the criticism as exaggerated and urged focus on other issues.

Despite the explanation, the post drew criticism across party lines. Several Republican lawmakers publicly urged Trump to remove the video and apologise.

South Carolina Senator Tim Scott described it as deeply offensive and called for its deletion. Other Republican leaders, including Senator Pete Ricketts and Representative Mike Lawler, also said the post was inappropriate and should be taken down.

Democratic leaders reacted strongly as well. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer condemned the post and called it offensive and harmful, while House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries criticised the president and questioned the response from Republican leadership.

The incident also renewed attention on Trump's past use of edited or AI-generated videos targeting political opponents.
