Donald Trump announces US withdrawal from nuclear deal with Iran
United States President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced that the US will withdraw from an international nuclear deal with Iran which was signed in 2015.
'"It is clear to me that we cannot prevent Iran nuclear bomb. The Iran deal is defective at its core. Therefore, I am announcing today that the United States would withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal," Trump said.
The 10-year deal signed in 2015 between Iran and the US and several of its European allies had sought to restrict the former's ability to develop its nuclear program and prevent it from possibly making an atomic bomb.
In reversing the signature foreign policy accomplishment of his predecessor Barack Obama, Trump by taking this decision ignored advice against such a move from his key European allies and top US Democratic leaders.
