Doklam standoff: "Peace between India and China is of interest to UK"
The world is watching the standoff between India and China over Doklam
Peace between India and China is in the interest of the United Kingdom, said its Deputy High Commissioner Dominic McAllister. The Doklam standoff between the two countries, while bilateral, has out other countries on a watchful mode.

Speaking to journalists in Bengaluru, UK's Deputy High Commissioner Dominic McAllister said that his country would step into advice if asked but was currently only observing the developments. "UK has an interest in maintaining stability in the region. It is very much a bilateral issue between the two nations but the UK government is watching the situation. We will offer out advice if asked," he said.
The standoff has led to tension along the border. China has called Indian Army's presence in Doklam as an invasion of its plateau. "UK hopes that the situation remains peaceful. It is in our interest that a peaceful solution is found," added McAllister.

Meanwhile, India and China continue to militarily reinforce their positions along the border showing no signs of de-escalation of the issue. Chinese media has said that the Indian forces are evacuating villagers from the region but the Indian army has denied ordered evacuation near the Sikkim-Bhutan-Tibet tri-junction.
Even as military reinforcements are being stepped up, diplomatic channels are working overtime to diffuse tension at Doklam.
