Dog Accidentally Starts House Fire, Saved by Apple HomePod Alert
In the US, a dog accidentally set its house on fire by activating the oven, leading to a crucial fire alert through a smart home device. The incident underscores the necessity of fire safety measures and smart home technology in preventing potential disasters.
A dog in the United States accidentally set its house on fire by turning on the oven while its owners were asleep. The family and their pet were saved after receiving a "High Heat" alert from their Apple HomePod. The incident was captured on a kitchen camera.

The Colorado Springs Fire Department shared a video of the event on Facebook, which has garnered over 10,000 views. The footage shows the dog standing on the countertop and unintentionally switching on the oven, which had boxes on top. These boxes quickly ignited, causing a fire.
US House On Fire: Alert and Response
The fire occurred late last month at around 4:40 am in Colorado. The homeowners were alerted by their Apple HomePod's notification and managed to extinguish the flames before calling for help. Engine 23 was dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters found no visible smoke or flames but discovered the recorded footage in the kitchen. One of the homeowners was treated for smoke inhalation at a local hospital, but no other injuries were reported.
Authorities' Safety Recommendations
The Colorado Springs Fire Department advised residents to ensure they have working smoke alarms inside and outside every sleeping area and on each floor of their homes. They also recommended keeping combustibles away from stovetops and knowing two exit routes from every room in case of a fire.
"This is a good reminder to always have working smoke alarms inside and outside every sleeping area and on every floor of the home, ensure all combustibles are away from your stovetop/oven and know two ways out of every room in your home in the event of a fire," stated the department.
Dog Starts House Fire; Internet Reacts
Reactions online were mixed. A Facebook user named Lana commented, "Should not put flammables on any cooktop gas or electrics. Pets trying to get stuff up there turning on ranges and starting fires is a common insurance claim, unfortunately."
Another user joked about the situation, saying, "Lesson learned: don't ask your dog to prepare breakfast for you." Artist Nova Tugce Kizilet added her thoughts on Instagram, stating that adults should cut off the gas when not using stoves to prevent such accidents.
The incident serves as an important reminder about home safety measures and ensuring that potential hazards are minimized to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
