Dhaka University Students Groove To 'Teri Aakhya Ka Yo Kajal' During Protest | WATCH

Students at Dhaka University adopted an unconventional method to protest against the administration.

A video circulating on social media shows a large group of students assembled outside a university building, playing loud music on a speaker to draw the administration's attention.

What caught people off guard, however, was not just the use of music as a form of protest but also the choice of song.

In the video, a crowd of students gathers near a rickshaw with a large speaker mounted on it. As the music begins, they jump and dance to Haryanvi artist and 'Bigg Boss' contestant Sapna Choudhary's popular song 'Teri Aakhya Ka Yo Kajal'. The students cheer and shout as the song grows louder.

The protest stemmed from a grievance raised by students in the girls' hostel, who had reportedly complained about "noise pollution" near their building.

They accused the Vice-Chancellor of ignoring their complaints and decided to place loudspeakers outside his office as a symbolic demonstration against the alleged inaction.

"Dhaka University VC allegedly didn't take action vs noise pollution near female hall, so female students put loudspeakers in front of VC house," explained the caption of a social media post.

Many online viewers were both amused and impressed by the students' unique approach. "Bangladeshi students playing Haryanvi songs to protest wasn't on my bingo card," remarked one Indian user.

"This is the smartest way of protest," commented another. "Makes complete sense considering they were trying to create same levels of noise pollution," quipped a third.

Dhaka University has seen significant protests in 2024, notably against a High Court decision reinstating the quota for freedom fighters in government jobs.
