Dalit Woman Abducted, Gang-Raped, Forced To Convert And Married In Delhi; NCW Demands Strict Action

The National Commission for Women (NCW) on Saturday strongly condemned the alleged gangrape and forced religious conversion of a 23-year-old Dalit woman in Jamia Nagar and demanded strict and time-bound action from the police.

The case has sparked serious concern because of allegations involving sexual assault, caste-based abuse and coercion over several years.

NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar has written to the Delhi Police seeking a detailed action taken report within seven days.

NCW Calls Allegations 'Extremely Grave'

In its official statement, the NCW described the allegations in the case as "extremely grave in nature."

The Commission said crimes involving sexual violence, intimidation, coercion and caste-based targeting cannot be tolerated and must be investigated with urgency and sensitivity.

The NCW also directed police to ensure the victim's safety and take stern legal action against all accused individuals.

According to the Commission, cases involving women's safety should be handled with seriousness and without delay.

What The Allegations Are

According to Delhi Police, the 23-year-old woman alleged that she was repeatedly sexually assaulted between 2021 and 2025.

Police said the accused had initially contacted the woman through social media using a fake identity.

The case reportedly came to light after the woman approached police on May 14 and shared details of the alleged abuse.

Authorities said the woman also accused the group of forcing religious conversion and subjecting her to intimidation and coercion.

Four Accused Arrested So Far

Delhi Police have arrested four of the six accused in the case so far, including one woman.
Officials said investigations are continuing and teams are working to identify and locate the remaining accused individuals.

According to reports, police have also secured transit remand for the main accused, who will be brought to Delhi for further investigation.

Investigators are expected to revisit the alleged crime locations to better understand the sequence of events connected to the case.

FIR Filed Under Multiple Serious Charges

Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) under several sections of the Indian Penal Code related to:

• Rape
• Kidnapping and abduction
• Criminal intimidation
• Wrongful confinement
• Criminal conspiracy

Authorities said all legal procedures are being followed as part of the ongoing investigation.

The incident has triggered strong reactions online and renewed discussions around women's safety, caste discrimination and exploitation through fake online identities.
