'Cousins Ko Choro, Koi Aur Dhoondo': Muzz App's Sarcastic Ad Hits A Nerve In Pakistan
Pakistan's dating app, Muzz, has sparked a viral ad campaign with an interesting tagline encouraging users to seek relationships beyond their cousins. The company erected a billboard featuring a message in Hindi: "Cousins ko choro, koi aur dhoondo" (Leave cousins, find someone else).
This attention-grabbing tagline from a purported Pakistani dating app humorously highlighted the prevalent practice of 'cousin marriage' in the country.

A red hoarding bore the message, which swiftly circulated across the internet, eliciting creative thoughts and varied opinions from users.
The advertisement was rolled out by 'Muzz,' a Muslim-focused marriage and dating app established by Shahzad Younas in 2015.
It must be noted that consanguineous marriages, where closely related individuals wed, account for 10.4% of marriages globally. Pakistan notably records the highest rates of cousin marriage worldwide.
The ad campaign swiftly gained traction, with numerous users sharing the images in their posts.
One user humorously remarked, "Ab shaadiyan kam hogi" (now there will be fewer marriages).
Meanwhile, another user commented, "If this starts working, half of Pakistani men will remain single forever."
Muzz serves as a Pakistani equivalent to Tinder or Bumble, positioning itself as a platform for Muslim singles to meet, founded by Shahzad Younas under the taglines "Where Single Muslims Meet" and "Where Muslims Meet".
