Denver US, Oct 30 AP The body of a heavily armed man found dead with explosives at Colorado amusement park
"While this investigation is still ongoing and very active it is important to realise that given the amount of weaponry, ammunition, and explosive devices found, the suspect could have implemented an attack of devastating proportions upon our community and first responders," authorities said.
In a shocking incident, the body of a heavily armed man was found at a Colorado amusement park in Denver, US. The 22-year-old man, who was equipped with body armour and tactical clothing, also had homemade explosives with him. This alarming discovery led to the closure of Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park over the weekend as authorities initiated an investigation for potential additional bombs and searched his residence.

The deceased individual broke into the park while it was closed and was found dead on Saturday morning before public opening hours, according to Walt Stowe, spokesperson for Garfield County Sheriff's Office. He added that multiple improvised explosive devices were discovered both on him and in his vehicle. Despite an exhaustive search across the entire park for other explosives, no further devices were detected.
Potential Threat Averted
"While this investigation is still ongoing and very active it is important to realise that given the amount of weaponry, ammunition, and explosive devices found, the suspect could have implemented an attack of devastating proportions upon our community and first responders," warned Stowe.
Suspect’s Profile
The identity of the man has not been disclosed yet but he is known to be from around that area. In terms of armament details provided by Stowe indicate that he possessed a semi-automatic rifle along with a semi-automatic handgun accompanied by multiple loaded magazines for each weapon. Interestingly enough his attire bore patches and emblems which suggested possible association with law enforcement agencies.
Ongoing Investigation
On Saturday itself Glenwood Springs Post Independent quoted Stowe stating that police are investigating if suicide could be linked to this case although no confirmation has been received yet as Stowe did not respond immediately either via telephone call or email on Monday when contacted about it.
In the latest press release issued on Monday, it was mentioned that the Sheriff's office will not be releasing any further information regarding this ongoing investigation.
This incident has sparked a wave of fear and anxiety among residents and visitors alike. The discovery of such an arsenal in a public place like an amusement park is deeply unsettling. It underscores the importance of stringent security measures and vigilance to prevent potential threats and ensure public safety. As authorities continue their investigation, everyone eagerly awaits more clarity on this incident.
