Beijing, May 2: China's meteorological authority has warned the public of possible geological disasters in the south with heavy rain predicted for the region.
Parts of Anhui, Jiangxi and Zhejiang provinces was expected to see torrential rains, the National Meteorological Centre (NMC) said in a statement yesterday.

The NMC said precipitation could reach up to 95 mm in these areas. Lightning and gales will accompany the rain.
The centre warned of high risks of geological disasters in the areas, suggesting people affected by the rainstorms to take precautions against possible mountain torrents, mud-rock flows and landslide, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
China has extended weekend as the government has declared public holiday today to celebrate May Day.
