China Responds To PM Modi's Comments On Prolonged Border Dispute
In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remarks on the ongoing border crisis between India and China, it was stated by Beijing that the importance of "sound and stable ties" serving the common interest of both countries cannot be understated.
This statement followed PM Modi's indication that the "prolonged situation" at the borders needed urgent attention.

China Responds To PM Modi - Here's What China Said
During a press briefing, Chinese spokesperson Mao Ning was asked about her reaction to PM Modi's comments, to which she responded by noting that China had taken note of Prime Minister Modi's remarks. Mao Ning emphasized that sound and stable relations between China and India are crucial for the interests of both countries, as well as for peace and development in the region and beyond.
Regarding the ongoing India-China border dispute, Mao highlighted that this issue does not "represent the entirety of China-India relations" and should be appropriately managed within the bilateral relationship. Mao further reiterated that both countries have maintained close communication through diplomacy and military channels, resulting in positive progress toward resolving the border issues.
China's spokesperson expressed hope that India would work together with China, approach bilateral relations strategically and with a long-term perspective, build trust, engage in dialogue and cooperation, and handle differences appropriately to foster a sound and stable relationship.
Despite China's position, India has maintained that normalcy in relations cannot be restored as long as the state of the borders remains abnormal.
PM Modi's Comments On Prolonged Border Dispute
In an interview with Newsweek, PM Modi expressed hope that through positive and constructive engagement at diplomatic and military levels, both India and China would be able to restore and sustain peace and tranquility at their borders. He emphasized the importance and significance of China's relationship with India.
PM Modi emphasized the urgent need to address the prolonged border situation to normalize bilateral interactions. He stressed that stable and peaceful relations between India and China are not only important for the two countries but also for the entire region and the world.
Earlier, China's state-run media characterized Modi's remarks as a "gesture of goodwill" amid ongoing talks between the two countries to resolve the border crisis. Chinese media noted that Modi's remarks could be interpreted as a goodwill gesture, reflecting efforts by both sides to find a fair, reasonable, and mutually acceptable settlement to their border disputes and turn the page on this issue.
