China Builds In A Blink: 10-Storey Building Constructed In Just 24 Hours!
Imagine a 10-storey apartment complex rising from the ground in over a single day. No longer a sci-fi scenario, Chinese company Broad Group has made this vision a reality with their Living Building in Changsha, China. This astounding feat, captured in a timelapse video, marks the world's shortest construction period for a building of this magnitude.
Constructed from standard container-sized modular units produced in a Broad Group factory, the Living Building's modules feature a stainless steel structure, measuring 12.19 meters in length, 2.44 meters in width, and three meters in height. These container-shaped modules are cleverly stacked to create a column-free space of 12 meters by 4.8 meters, with walls and balconies folding out to enclose the spaces.

Transported to the site with all electrical and internal finishes already completed, the modules enable a rapid onsite installation. The company asserts, "Just tighten bolts and connect water and electricity, as fast as 10 storeys can be erected in one day." The video showcases the fully furnished apartment block with a minimalist design characterized by white walls, timber window frames, and flooring.
In terms of innovation, Broad Group employs a cutting-edge construction method, utilizing modular units with stainless steel slabs formed of two plates separated by hundreds of stainless steel tubes. These B-core slabs are claimed to be 10 times lighter and 100 times stronger than conventional floor plates, highlighting the company's commitment to innovation.
Broad Group emphasizes that this construction method is not limited to residential buildings and has the potential to extend to public structures and even skyscrapers. The company envisions its system as suitable for luxury residences, 200-storey skyscrapers, and a range of public and residential buildings, showcasing the versatility and future prospects of this groundbreaking approach in China.
