China Bridge Collapse Kills 11: First Visuals Out
The first visuals of the bridge collapse in northern China amid torrential rains are out online. Eleven people have died in the incident, AFP reported quoting Beijing's state news agency Xinhua.
The incident occurred around 8:40 pm on Friday (1240 GMT) "due to a sudden downpour and flash floods" as per the provincial public relations department.

Five vehicles have been recovered so far even as the rescue operations are on. The visuals from the CCTV showed a partially submerged section of the bridge with the river rushing over it.
The video clips of the incident are going viral online.

On Friday, state media reported that the rains had triggered flooding and mudslides in Baoji city, Shaanxi province, resulting in at least five deaths and eight people missing.
China is enduring a summer of extreme weather, with heavy rains pounding the east and south, while the north has sweltered through consecutive heat waves.
