CCTV Video: Israel Shares Yahya Sinwar's Before 7 Oct Attack Video, Shows Hamas Leader Moving To A Tunnel

Israel has released footage showing Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar moving his belongings into a tunnel in Gaza. This occurred just hours before the October 7 attack last year, which led to the ongoing conflict. The video was made public after Sinwar's death in Rafah, where he was cornered and killed in a firefight.

The footage reveals Sinwar, along with his family, relocating items such as a television, water, pillows, and mattresses into the tunnel. Israeli army spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari stated that this tunnel was beneath their home in Khan Younis. During a press briefing, Hagari displayed images of the underground compound equipped with toilets, showers, and a kitchen.

Details of Sinwar's Last Moments

Drone footage captured earlier this week showed Sinwar critically injured in his final moments as he threw an object at the drone. An autopsy revealed that he died from a gunshot wound to the head and had one finger severed. Despite being frequently pursued by the Israel Defence Forces over the past year, Sinwar managed to evade capture until now.

Hamas has claimed that Sinwar died heroically while fighting and dismissed Hagari's statements as "blatant lies." The discovery of Sinwar's final hiding place came after Israeli forces found "his DNA sample on a tissue with which he blew his nose," according to Hagari.

Impact of the Conflict

The October 7 attack in Israel resulted in approximately 1,200 deaths and 235 hostages taken. Over the past year, Israel's operations in Gaza have caused more than 40,000 fatalities. The death of Sinwar raises questions about who will lead Hamas amid this ongoing war that has also involved Lebanon.

In Lebanon, Israeli attacks have led to at least 2,350 deaths over the past year, according to the Lebanese health ministry. More than 1.2 million people have been displaced due to these attacks. Meanwhile, Hezbollah assaults have resulted in 50 Israeli soldiers and civilians losing their lives.

The situation remains tense as both sides continue to engage in conflict. The leadership void left by Sinwar's death adds another layer of complexity to an already volatile region.
