CCTV footage shows soldiers looting Westgate shopping mall
The CCTV footage clearly shows many soldiers taking goods from mobile shops and other stores. Soldiers were seen carrying shopping bags, leaving the supermarket in the mall, when the militants were likely to be inside.
This has angered the citizens of Kenya, who had earlier praised the troops for their courage for fighting out with the Somali attackers.
An official from the Kenya DefenCe Forces (KDF) said that they will look into the looting allegations that have arisen from the CCTV footage.
In spite of terrorists hiding inside the mall, soldiers looted stores
The local media didn't think twice before lashing out at the KDF. The Nation, Kenya's biggest selling newspaper carried a frontpage headline over the weekend that read 'Shame of soldiers looting Westgate,' under the caption 'Caught on camera.'
Kenyan troops battled with the militants for four days, who had taken hostages in the Westgate shopping mall on Sept 21 killing 67 people and injuring many.
