Caught On Cam: Pak Singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan Assaults A Man With Shoe

A video of Pakistan's iconic singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan assaulting a man has surfaced online.

In the clip, he is seen thrashing the man identified as Naveed Hasnain with a shoe while asking him about a "bottle". The distressed victim is desperately pleading with the singe to cease his actions.

However, his nephew has downplayed the incident saying the incident was between the teacher and a student. "This is about a personal issue between an ustad and shagird. He is like my son. This is how the relation is between a teacher and his disciple. If a disciple does something good, I shower my love on him. If he does something wrong, he is punished," he said in the video.

The noted singer has also lent an apology to his student after the incident. In a video, the individual who was assaulted by Khan, acknowledged misplacing a bottle containing holy water.

However, he emphasized that there was no malicious intent behind his actions.

"He is my father and my teacher. He loves us a lot too. Whoever has done this act [of leaking the video] is blackmailing to defame my teacher," he added.

However, the incident has not gone well with the netizens. "Unfortunately he's not to get punished. He's money will take care of everything. Such a shameful act," one user said.

The second user said, "90% of the privileged in the sub-continent behave like that. Irrespective of region, religion, caste, language and profession."

"Very sad to see the the real person behind a beautiful voice. No matter what you do after the incident but the realty is caught on camera," the third user added.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is one of the most popular and highest-paid singers in Pakistan. He is the nephew of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, son of Farrukh Fateh Ali Khan and grandson of Qawwali singer Fateh Ali Khan. In addition to Qawwali, he also performs ghazals and other light music.
