According to German newspaper Bild, 15 people were injured in the incident, though official figures are yet to be confirmed. Meanwhile, local broadcaster BR reported that the victims might have been part of a demonstration related to a strike organized by the Verdi union. However, the union has stated that it has no information about the incident.

The crash comes at a critical time as Munich prepares to host world leaders for the Security Conference starting Friday. Among the key attendees are U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, both expected to arrive later on Thursday.

While authorities have not linked the incident to any security threats, concerns persist due to the high-profile nature of the upcoming summit.
