Canada: 2 killed including gunman, 13 injured in Toronto shooting
Toronto, July 23: Two people including the gunman are dead and 13 wounded in Toronto after a shooting in the busy Greektown neighbourhood, adding to concern about gun violence in Canada's largest city on Monday. Toronto police said that they are investigating reports of a shooting in the area of Danforth and Logan avenues.
One of the gunman's victims is believed to have been killed in the shooting. Toronto paramedics said eight people have been taken to hospital.
Paramedics have confirmed to local media that the crime scene encompasses a large area and a number of the 10 victims so far retrieved from the scene have suffered 'significant injuries'.
Councillor Mary Fragedakis also said she heard the gunman was disturbed. Toronto Councillor Paula Fletcher said for this to happen in an area where families gather for dinner is a tragedy. This past weekend Toronto police deployed dozens of additional officers to deal with a recent spike in gun violence in the city.
