California Preprares For Wildfire Threats Amid Heat And Power Shutoff Warnings Before July 4
Intense heat and strong winds sweeping across California are heightening wildfire risks ahead of the July 4 holiday, prompting the state's largest utility to warn of potential power line shutdowns to prevent fires.
PG&E Corp. indicated it may implement power shutoffs affecting 12,000 homes and businesses on Tuesday, primarily in northern rural areas where high winds and temperatures exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit are expected, as reported by Hindustan Times.

California Braces For Wildfire Threat - Here What We Know
These precautionary measures aim to prevent electrical equipment from sparking wildfires in dry grassy areas, a recurring hazard during the summer months across the Western states following previous deadly blazes.
So far this year, PG&E has managed to avoid implementing such shutdowns. Edison International's Southern California utility does not currently plan any safety shutoffs in the upcoming days, as noted on its website, as reported by Hindustan Times.
Excessive heat advisories and red flag warnings have been issued from California's Central Valley extending westward toward the Pacific Coast, as reported by the US National Weather Service. Sacramento, for instance, is forecasted to experience temperatures reaching 104°F (40°C) on Monday, climbing to 111°F on Wednesday, just shy of a record set in 1991.
Across the Western states, 76 weather stations may potentially break or threaten high-temperature records from Wednesday through Saturday. "It's progressively getting hotter," remarked Bob Oravec, a senior forecaster with the US Weather Prediction Center. "The heat will build throughout the weekend," as per media reports.
Even before this current heatwave, California has witnessed an increasing number of fires as spring vegetation dries out during the rain-free summer months. According to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, a total of 2,696 fires have already scorched 118,149 acres across the state.
4th July Celebrations in US
The 4th of July, celebrated annually in the United States, commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. It is marked by festivities such as fireworks displays, parades, barbecues, and concerts across the country. Families and communities gather to honour the nation's freedom with patriotic fervour.
The day symbolizes unity and reflects the values of liberty, democracy, and independence. It serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by the Founding Fathers and the ongoing pursuit of American ideals.
