A video capturing a bystander's brave act during a shooting at a well-known Australian beach has gone viral. The footage shows a man in a white T-shirt and dark trousers crouching behind a car. He then approaches the gunman, seizes his weapon, and points it back at him, causing the attacker to fall.

The heroic intervention has received widespread acclaim, including from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. New South Wales Premier Chris Minns described it as an "unbelievable scene." He praised the bystander for risking his life to save others, calling him a "genuine hero."

Heroic Act During Tragic Event

The bystander was identified as Ahmed al Ahmed, aged 43, by 7NEWS Australia. His cousin Mustafa revealed that Ahmed is a fruit shop owner and father of two from Sydney. Ahmed was shot twice, sustaining injuries to his arm and hand, and required surgery.

"We hope he will be fine," Mustafa stated. "He's a hero. One hundred percent, he's a hero." Despite acknowledging the bystander's actions, New South Wales Police have not confirmed his identity. They mentioned that investigations are ongoing to identify everyone involved.

Attack Details and Aftermath

The attack occurred during a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach in Sydney on Sunday. A father and son opened fire, resulting in 15 deaths and injuring dozens more. Authorities have labelled the incident as an antisemitic terrorist act.

This tragic event is part of a series of antisemitic attacks that have troubled Australia over the past year. However, officials did not link these previous incidents directly to Sunday's shooting. It marks the deadliest shooting in nearly 30 years in Australia, known for its stringent gun control laws.
