Burglary Attempt At Kamala Harris' Home Amid L.A. Wildfires: Two Arrested
Two individuals were detained near Vice President Kamala Harris' residence in Brentwood, California, following a reported potential break-in during a citywide curfew imposed due to the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles. The incident occurred as authorities responded to concerns about unauthorized entry in the area, as reported by Hindustan Times.

Curfew Imposed Amid Raging Wildfires
The Palisades Fire, which has scorched nearly 24,000 acres and forced widespread evacuations, has caused significant damage in multiple neighborhoods across Los Angeles, including the one where Harris' home is located. To maintain public safety and prevent looting, officials enforced a curfew from 6 pm to 6 am in the affected areas.
The Incident at Harris' Residence
According to local news reports, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) received a call around 4:40 am on Saturday about a possible burglary at Harris' residence, as reported by Hindustan Times. The home had been evacuated due to the ongoing wildfire threat. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found no evidence of forced entry or theft. The individuals were arrested for violating the curfew, not for burglary. Local officials noted that the suspects likely didn't know the area well, as no criminal activity was found.
VP Kamala Harris Not Present
Harris' Press Secretary, Ernie Apreza, confirmed that the Vice President was not at her residence when the incident occurred. The suspects, whose identities were not disclosed, were later released after being detained for curfew violations.
Ongoing Crisis and Looting Surge
As the wildfires continue to ravage parts of Los Angeles, looting incidents have surged. At least 20 individuals have been arrested for burglary in the wake of the fires. Local authorities are urging residents to follow evacuation orders and remain vigilant for illegal activity in affected areas.
Harris' Support for California Firefighters and Communities
Amid the crisis, Vice President Harris took to social media to praise the heroic efforts of first responders and neighbors helping one another. In a post on X, she wrote: "From our heroic first responders to the neighbors who are helping each other, Californians are stepping up and showing the best of the American spirit in a moment of crisis."
President Biden has also directed federal resources to assist in the ongoing evacuation and recovery operations, designating the wildfires in California as a major disaster, as per media reports.
As the situation continues to unfold, authorities remain focused on providing relief and ensuring public safety as the state grapples with the widespread devastation caused by the wildfires.
