Building Nuclear Submarine With China To Counter Indian Navy - Here's Pakistan Full Plan

Pakistan's military is reportedly planning to deploy nuclear-armed submarines in the sea as part of its efforts to strengthen its deterrence against India.

China is building the Hangor-class submarines for Pakistan, and the military wants them to be configured to carry nuclear missiles.

The project has faced delays due to financial constraints, but China is expected to deliver all eight submarines by the late 2030s. These submarines, equipped with Air-Independent Propulsion (AIP) technology, will pose a greater threat to India.

Pakistan has been developing tactical nuclear weapons (TNWs) since 1998 to counter India's conventional superiority. The Hangor-class submarines are believed to be armed with a variant of Babur-3 SLCMs, which have a range of 450 kilometres.

Pakistan's navy has long desired the capability to launch nuclear weapons from underwater, and acquiring a dedicated strategic platform is a future goal. While Pakistan does not currently have the capability to design and develop nuclear-powered submarines, it may pursue this as part of its long-term strategy.

This development could also benefit China, which wants the Pakistan Navy to challenge India in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). The Indian Navy will need to ascertain the location of Pakistani nuclear submarines before deploying its aircraft carrier.

India has been developing a more flexible and responsive deterrent against China and Pakistan, including testing long-range ballistic missiles with Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle (MIRV) technology. However, the use of tactical nuclear weapons is a complex issue, as it would trigger India's retaliation according to its nuclear doctrine.
