British Man Buried In Snickers Coffin To Celebrate His Candy Obsession: I’m Nuts

Paul Broome had always been the life of the party-quick-witted, full of jokes, and never one to take life too seriously. So when he joked for years about wanting to be buried in a Snickers-themed coffin, his family laughed it off, assuming it was just another one of his playful remarks. But after his passing, they were surprised to discover he had actually included the request in his will.

Determined to honor Paul's unique sense of humor, his family made sure he got the send-off he truly wanted. They arranged for a custom-made coffin designed to look like a partially unwrapped Snickers bar, complete with the words "I'm nuts!" painted on the side-one last cheeky nod to the man who never failed to make people smile.

Paul, a care assistant who worked with adults with learning disabilities, was not just known for his humor but also for his kind heart. His funeral, arranged by F A Holland (Co-op) Funeralcare in Chichester, was a true reflection of his personality.

"Paul's family told us he was one of life's true characters, and his farewell needed to reflect that," said Ali Leggo, the funeral arranger. "His quick wit and sense of humor touched so many people, and this was a fitting tribute to the unique person he was."

Adding another personal touch, the coffin also featured the Crystal Palace FC logo, a tribute to Paul's lifelong love for the football club.

The funeral procession took a detour past his favorite café in Bognor Regis, where his friends-wearing custom tribute T-shirts-gathered to applaud as he made his final journey in his candy-themed casket.

"The family received nothing but love and support from those who attended," Leggo shared. "Many said the personal touches made the service feel like a true celebration of Paul's life."

Unconventional funerals like Paul's are becoming more common, with families choosing to honor their loved ones in ways that truly represent who they were. In 2021, another man's final wish was granted when his family poured his ashes down a bar drain-a farewell just as unique as he was.

For Paul Broome, a Snickers coffin wasn't just a quirky idea-it was a final joke, a last laugh, and a reminder to everyone who knew him to never take life too seriously.
