Brexit: UK PM Theresa May survives another critical voting

London, Jan 30: It's a season of tightrope walking for British Prime Minister Theresa May. Days after her Brexit plan fell flat in the country's parliament and she survived yet another no-confidence motion, May again survived a critical voting in parliament on Tuesday, January 29. It could have delayed the procedure which is scheduled to take place on March 29.

Brexit: UK PM Theresa May survives another critical voting

May's latest escape happened after the lawmakers just about failed to approve an amendment giving the parliament the power to ask her to seek a delay to avoid Britain's disorderly exit from the European Union (EU) if there is no agreement.

The prime minister later got defeated in a vote on a non-binding amendment that said Britain should not leave the EU without a deal.

"While Mrs. May survived to fight another day, her options are narrowing, and she faces an ever harder task in trying to reverse Parliament's landslide rejection of her Brexit plan this month," the New York Times reported.
