Biden Invites President-elect Trump for Ceremonial Meeting at the White House on November 13
Outgoing US President Joe Biden has extended an invitation to President-elect Donald Trump for a meeting at the White House on November 13. This gathering will officially initiate the presidential transition process. "At President Biden’s invitation, President Biden and President-elect Trump will meet in the Oval Office on Wednesday at 11:00 am," stated White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.

The meeting between the outgoing and incoming presidents is a long-standing tradition, typically held in the Oval Office. During this event, the outgoing president briefs the president-elect on the nation's key agenda. Additionally, the president-elect receives a tour of the White House, which includes a meeting between the First Lady and the incoming First Lady.
Presidential Transition Tradition
This occasion marks only the second instance in American history where a president is re-elected after a four-year hiatus. In this scenario, President-elect Donald Trump, who served as the 45th president from January 20, 2017, along with First Lady Melania Trump, are already acquainted with White House operations and presidential duties.
The traditional meeting signifies a peaceful power transition, which was disrupted in 2020 when Trump did not concede the election. He also skipped President Joe Biden's swearing-in ceremony. This year, however, both parties are expected to uphold this ceremonial exchange.
Vice Presidential Transition
In addition to the presidential meeting, a similar session is being arranged between outgoing Vice President Kamala Harris and her successor J D Vance. This meeting aims to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities within the vice-presidential office as well.
These meetings underscore the importance of maintaining continuity and stability within the US government during transitions. They also highlight the significance of upholding traditions that facilitate cooperation between outgoing and incoming administrations.
