President Biden Endorses Vice President Kamala Harris as Democratic Presidential Nominee

US President Joe Biden has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee for the upcoming November general elections. Biden emphasized that he will focus on fulfilling his duties as President for the remainder of his term. "It has been the greatest honour of my life to serve as your President. And while I have intended to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term," he stated in a six-paragraph open letter posted on social media.

The president's decision follows mounting pressure from senior party leaders after a poor performance in a presidential debate against Republican rival Donald Trump last month. Biden acknowledged this in his message, stating that he had decided not to accept the nomination and would focus all his energies on his presidential duties.

"My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made," Biden said.
