Barcelona terror attack: 'They won't terrorise us', say Spain royals


Barcelona, August 17: The country would not be "terrorised," said Spain's royals who condemned the attack in Barcelona on Friday in which a van ploughed through crowds of pedestrians, killing at least 13 people.

"They are assassins, criminals who won't terrorise us. All of Spain is Barcelona," the royals tweeted in an unusually strongly-worded statement, joining Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy who said "terrorists will never defeat a united people."

    At least 13 people were killed and over 50 injured when a driver ploughed a van into pedestrians on a busy street in Barcelona popular with tourists, the region's interior minister said.

    "We can confirm there are 13 dead and more than 50 injured," Joaquim Forn tweeted.
