Barack Obama refers to Modi as President, slip of tongue caught on tape

New York, Sept 2: President Modi? President Barack Obama referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as president in the middle of a statement he made at the end of their meeting on Monday.

In the video of his remarks posted on the White House web site, Obama can be heard saying, "We are encouraged by the aggressive nature of President Modi's commitment to clean energy."

The slip was recorded in the first White House transcript of his remarks. Later the White House reissued the transcript correcting "president" to "prime minister".

Meanwhile, Modi concluded his US visit and left for India early Tuesday morning.
