Bangkok, Jan 13: The "Bangkok shutdown" led by anti-government protestors has affected more than two million people in the Thailand capital.

As many as 680,000 residents living in and around the rally sites were affected, besides 440,000 students and 1.2 million people working in the area, Xinhua cited media reports as saying.

The shutdown has also affected 4.8 million transport trips.

Secretary-general of the anti-government People's Democratic Reform Committee Suthep Thaugsuban led a massive procession of protestors to march in Bangkok starting Monday, aiming to paralyse the city and force Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawtra to hand in power.
