A replica of Ayodhya's Ram Mandir will be displayed at New York's 42nd India Day Parade on August 18, adding a cultural and religious dimension to the largest celebration of India's Independence Day outside India.
A replica of Ayodhya's Ram Mandir will be featured at the 42nd New York's India Day Parade on August 18.
This parade is the largest celebration of India's Independence Day outside India, attracting over 150,000 spectators annually.

The parade, organised by the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA), showcases floats representing various Indian-American communities and cultural expressions. This year, the inclusion of the Ram Mandir replica adds a significant cultural and religious dimension to the event.
Ram Mandir Replica in New York
The plan to display the 18-foot long, 9-foot wide, and 8-foot tall replica was announced by Amitabh Mittal, general secretary of Vishva Hindu Parishad of America (VHPA). This marks the first time a replica of the Ram Mandir will be showcased in the United States.
Earlier this year, on January 22, Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed the Pran Pratishtha rituals for Shri Ram Lalla at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. This significant event underscores the importance of the temple in Hindu culture.
Parade Route and Festivities
The parade route extends from East 38th Street down Madison Ave to 28th Street. Along this route, grand marshals and celebrities greet spectators. Participants can enjoy festivities themed around the Indian flag, including food, music, and dance.
The Vishva Hindu Parishad of America (VHPA) recently concluded a Ram Mandir Rath Yatra. This yatra visited 851 temples across 48 American states over a span of 60 days. The tour highlights widespread reverence for the Ram Mandir project within Hindu-American communities.
Significance of the Replica
The presence of the Ram Mandir replica at the parade not only commemorates this monumental project in India but also aims to educate and engage a diverse audience about Hindu heritage and religious significance. It reflects a pivotal moment in Hindu-American relations and cultural expression within the United States.
This year's India Day Parade promises to be an enriching experience with its blend of cultural displays and religious symbolism. The inclusion of such significant elements ensures that attendees gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of India's rich heritage.
