Austin: 2 killed, 23 injured as car rams into crowd outside nightclub

vzd
Austin, March 13: Two people were reportedly killed and over 23 injured when a car rammed into a crowd during a music fest SXSW outside the Mohawk bar on Red River and 10 streets in downtown Austin on early Thursday morning.

According to a report, the driver fled from the scene soon after plowing the car into crowd but later police confirmed that the accused driver was taken into custody.

Officials said that injured were admitted to a hospital and five were stated to be in a critical condition.

The cause of the accident is reported to be that the driver had taken the car to the "wrong way" down Ninth Street, which is a one-way street, and turned onto Red River, hitting pedestrians at a "high rate of speed", the USA Today reported.

The two deceased were identified as a man and a woman, who were on a moped.
