Austin: 2 killed, 23 injured as car rams into crowd outside nightclub
According to a report, the driver fled from the scene soon after plowing the car into crowd but later police confirmed that the accused driver was taken into custody.
Officials said that injured were admitted to a hospital and five were stated to be in a critical condition.
The cause of the accident is reported to be that the driver had taken the car to the "wrong way" down Ninth Street, which is a one-way street, and turned onto Red River, hitting pedestrians at a "high rate of speed", the USA Today reported.
The two deceased were identified as a man and a woman, who were on a moped.
