At least 34 people have been killed in a horrific bus crash in Madagascar on Tuesday, according to AFP news agency.

The shocking tragedy in Ankazobe, 44 miles north-west of Madagascar's capital Antananarivo, Minister of Transport Benjamina Ramarcel is quoted as saying by Xinhua news agency.

The bus was carrying young Christian worshippers when it plunged down a steep ravine in Madagascar, police and hospital officials said. Police said 12 badly-burned bodies were counted at the site after the late-night crash, while hospitals said that 22 other fatalities had been confirmed.

Passengers on the packed bus were travelling from the central town of Soavinandriana to a church meeting in the north-western coastal port city of Mahajanga when the accident occurred.
