As Tensions Between India-Pakistan Increase, China 'Strongly' Urges Both Countries To Exercise Calm, Restraint

China, an all-weather friend and strategic partner of Pakistan, has strongly urged India and Pakistan exercise calm and restraint as tensions between the warring countries escalate.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, in a statement, said that Beijing is closely following the ongoing situation between India and Pakistan.

As Tensions Between India-Pakistan Increase China Strongly Urges Both Countries To Exercise Calm Restraint

"We strongly urge both sides to act in the larger interest of peace and stability, exercise calm and restraint, return to the track of political settlement through peaceful means, and refrain from any action that could further escalate tensions. This will be important for the fundamental interest of both India and Pakistan, and for a stable and peaceful region. This is also what the international community hopes to see. China is willing to continue to play a constructive role to this end," Global Times quoted the spokesperson as saying.

Tensions between India and Pakistan increased after the Indian armed forces carried out airstrikes on the terror infrastructure in Pakistan and the PoK in response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack.

In retaliation, Pakistan has launched a wave of drone attacks.

Meanwhile, in its daily briefing by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Defence on Operation Sindoor, Indian Army Colonel Sofiya Qureshi said that precision strikes were carried out on Pakistani military targets in Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, and Chunian, as well as radar sites at Pasrur and Sialkot aviation bases, using air-launched weapons from Indian fighter aircraft.

"In response to Pakistan targeting civilian targets, the Indian Armed Forces retaliated and targeted technical installations, command and control centres, radar sites and ammunition strongholds... Pakistan military targets in Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, rahim yar khan, Sukkur and Chunian were engaged by air-launched precision weapons from our fighter aircraft... Radar sites at Pasrur and Sialkot aviation bases were also targeted using precision weapons. While carrying out these attacks, India has ensured minimal collateral damage," she said.

Colonel Qureshi spoke about the Pakistan's aggression, which included the use of Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles (UCAVs), long-range weapons, loitering ammunition, and fighter jets to target India's military structures. "Pakistan has continued its aggressive attack on the western border. At the LoC, they used drones and heavy-calibre weapons to attack. From Srinagar to Naliya, in more than 26 locations, airspace infiltration was attempted," she added.
