Another sexual harassment case; iGate sued

Washington, Feb 8: Years after infamous Phaneesh Murthy case, another sexual harassment case hit US-based IT services company iGate Corp. This time a former female employee of the company sued iGate.

The woman filed legal lawsuit accusing her supervisor and the company's legal head of taking sexual advantages. The complainant has been identified as Karetha Dodd, an American national. [All matters with iGATE have been resolved: Phaneesh Murthy]

She sued the IT company and her supervisor Mukund Srinath on charges of sexual harassment at the US District Court for the Northern District of California in Sept 2014.

According to reports, the complainant was employed as vice president and head of legal (Americas) at iGate. She resigned from the company in Aug 2013.

The accused, who has been charged with sexual abuse, continues to serve at the company as a senior vice president (Legal) and corporate secretary.

Media reports said that "she was subjected to harassment by her superior (Srinath) and when Plaintiff (Dodd) refused to have a sexual relationship with him, he retaliated by taking negative employment actions against her."

In the lawsuit, Dodd has demanded that she be compensated for damages, attorney fees and lost wages. Her annual compensation package was worth about $300,000, including stocks.

Meanwhile, reports also claimed that the woman was testified against the company's then CEO Phaneesh Murthy who was also accused of sexually harassing investor relations head Araceli Roiz.

In May 2013, iGate Corp had sacked its then CEO Phaneesh Murthy on the charges of sexual harassment by a woman employee. [Pregnant iGate employee, Murthy having a baby girl: Rpt]

Dod claimed that she was targeted as she was testified against Murthy. Phaneesh Murthy had faced similar kind of charges and was forced to resign from Infosys a decade ago.
