Another Hindu Man Beaten to Death in Bangladesh, Days After Dipu Das Lynching

Another Hindu man has been beaten to death in Bangladesh, just days after the lynching of Dipu Das, triggering renewed concern over violent incidents involving members of the minority community.

The latest killing was reported from Rajbari district, where a Hindu man was allegedly assaulted over extortion-related accusations, according to local media reports.

Killing Reported in Rajbari District

The deceased has been identified as Amrit Mondal, also known as Samrat. As reported by The Daily Star, the incident took place in Rajbari, where Samrat was allegedly attacked by a group following allegations linked to extortion activities.

Police sources said that upon receiving information about the assault, officers rushed to the spot and found Samrat in critical condition.

Victim Declared Dead at Hospital

After being rescued by the police, Samrat was taken to the Pangsha Upazila Health Complex for medical treatment. However, doctors at the facility declared him dead shortly after his arrival.

Authorities confirmed that the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Pangsha Police Station, where Samrat was already known to law enforcement officials.

Police Cite Criminal Background, One Arrest Made

Assistant Superintendent of Police Debrata Sarkar of the Pangsha Circle said that one of Samrat's associates was arrested during the police operation. A pistol and a one-shooter gun were recovered from the accused at the time of arrest, according to The Daily Star.

The ASP further stated that Samrat had at least two cases registered against him, including a murder case. He added that Samrat had allegedly formed a criminal gang and had long been involved in extortion and similar illegal activities.

The killing comes close on the heels of the lynching of Dipu Das, adding to growing scrutiny of law and order issues in parts of Bangladesh.
