Angela Merkel fractures pelvis in a ski accident

Angela Merkel fractures pelvis on skiis
Berlin, Jan 7: German Chancellor Angela Merkel is likely to be out of work for 6 weeks, following a low-speed ski accident in Engadin near St Moritz. AS a result of this, she is reported to be suffering from a pelvic fracture.

The 59 year old leader, as a result, had to cancel all her meetings and travels for the next month or so. "She has suffered a partial fracture to the left interior pelvic ring," said the government spokesperson Steffen Seibert.

Merkel and her husband returned from the skiing vacation believing that she had suffered minor bruises, but a medical check-up revealed that she suffered a fracture that would require a lot of bed rest.

Thankfully, the accident was not as severe as celebrity sportsperson Michael Schumacher who hit his head on a rock while skiing and had to undergo two major surgeries following that.

Doctors believe that the intensity of the accident was not so high as the speed was low. However, unconfirmed reports suggest that the accident took place as the skiis she was using was 20 years old and had lost tension.
