Lahore, July 25: In an election in Pakistan, the mention of anything Indian generally comes up with a negative tone. The aspiring power-holders find a favourite recipe of success through bashing India and stir up a nationalistic fervour.
But in this year's election, though there were known instances of candidates attacking India, but there were also occasions when India helped the power seekers with its non-political appeal. For example, Bollywood.
Although Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan recently accused India of trying to weaken Pakistan, one of his party candidates contesting this election put up images of Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan and popular actress Madhuri Dixit on the poster seeking votes for Wednesday.
The poster featuring the two iconic Indian actors reportedly came out in Multan in Punjab, according to a Twitter user, said Daily Pakistan.
The Twitterati, from across the border, was glad to see the two artistes making a space in the election posters in Pakistan. Bollywood has a huge fan following in Pakistan and it continues to win hearts despite the two countries' political animosities and periodic targeting of the media and its people on both sides of Wagah.
