FIFA fever reaches space; astronauts shave heads after losing bet

Washington, July 1: Now this is what we call 'being a true football fan.' Two American astronauts had a bet with their fellow astronaut saying that if US lost to Germany they would shave their heads. However if Germany won, then they would paint the German flag on his head.

According to a report in cbsnews.com (read here), American astronauts Steve Swanson and Reid Wiseman lost to ISS astronaut Alexander Gerst of Germany when USA lost to Germany last week in the on-going FIFA World Cup and had their heads shaved.

The crew captured the entire head shaving session on camera.

Mission Control suggested that the American astronauts look on the bright side, pointing out that "bald is more aerodynamic when flying."
