A precautionary landing was made at Krasnoyarsk International Airport in Russia's Krasnoyarsk Krai on Thursday after the cockpit crew detected a potential issue in the cargo hold area.

The following day, a relief flight was dispatched by Air India from New Delhi to Krasnoyarsk Krai. This ferry flight carried essentials and sufficient food for all passengers. Additionally, a delegation from the Indian Embassy in Moscow was sent to the airport to assist the passengers.

The support of the DGCA, the Government of India, the Embassy of India in Russia, the Russian authorities, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Krasnoyarsk International Airport, and all involved partners was acknowledged and thanked by Air India in a statement on X.

Gratitude was also extended to the passengers of AI183 on July 18 for their patience and understanding during the diversion, with a reaffirmation that safety remains the airline's foremost priority.

In a similar incident last year, an Air India flight on the same route suffered technical problems and was diverted to Russia's remote town of Magadan. Passengers were accommodated in a school for two days before a replacement flight, carrying food and other essentials, was sent from Mumbai to transport them to San Francisco.
